Compared with DOP, the gelation temperature of DINP during application is 20 – 30 C higher and the melting temperature is 7 C higher. By using appropriate mixture of DINP and DOP as plasticizers, it is possible to obtain economical finished product with suitable flexibility. The compatibility of DINP with PVC is excellent and the migration of DINP in PVC is very low. The volatility of DINP is lower compared with DOP.
Therefore, PVC film plasticized with DINP has longer service life, and after prolonged storage, the flexibility of the film is still maintained. In conclusion, the relatively low volatility and low plasticizing efficiency of DINP enable it to increase the service life of the finished products and reduce the fume emission in the processing stage.
